Party spaces in Boulder

Where Boulder families host birthday parties

  • At home. A big house isn’t necessary: Bronze and Silver need only a cleared end of the living room, with the kids seated together on the floor. Backyard party? Mention it when you call so Keir can talk through the setup.
  • City recreation centers. Boulder Parks and Recreation hosts birthday parties at three centers. East Boulder Community Center offers its Flagstaff or Eldorado room, North Boulder Recreation Center its Mesa or Bison room, and South Boulder Recreation Center its Community Lounge, with shared access to the Ninja Obstacle Studio. Parties run two hours for up to 20 participants, and requests need at least two weeks’ notice. Rec centers set their own rules for outside entertainers, so check with the facility when you book the room.
  • Park shelters. Shelters at Foothills Community Park (50 guests per shelter), Martin Park (100), Harlow Platts Park (250) and North Boulder Park (250) can be reserved from the first weekend in May through Labor Day, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Bounce houses aren’t allowed in neighborhood and community parks, and amplification is limited to battery players or waist-band microphones.
  • Rec center ballroom. For a bigger family celebration, the East Boulder Community Center Ballroom faces the Flatirons and can be divided into three rooms.

Can you perform at a Boulder rec center birthday party?

Boulder’s East Boulder Community Center, North Boulder Recreation Center and South Boulder Recreation Center host two-hour birthday parties for up to 20 participants. Check that an outside entertainer is allowed for your booking, then tell Keir the room and time.

Can we have the magic show at a Boulder park shelter?

Many families use the reservable shelters at Foothills Community Park, Martin Park, Harlow Platts Park and North Boulder Park, available from the first weekend in May through Labor Day. Bounce houses aren’t allowed, and amplified sound is limited, so tell Keir the park when you book and he’ll plan around it.
